Brenda brings expertise in the areas of training, group facilitation, conference and event planning, project management and nonprofit and volunteer management. Brenda holds a Masters Degree in Community Education. She has experience in program development and facilitation of planning processes for boards and staff and has served as executive director of nonprofits funded by multiple local, state and federal grants. With her experience in non-profit and volunteer management and as a highly skilled facilitator, one of Brenda’s strengths is in understanding organizations and where they are before helping them navigate change and foster collaborative solutions.

Recent facilitations include several strategic planning and subregional meetings of Tanana Chiefs Conference; Fairbanks North Star Borough Community Forums on Air Quality, Nome Eskimo Community, State Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Commissioner’s management team, Fairbanks North Star Borough School District secondary schools staff and/or community forums around the topic of school reform, University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Rural and Economic Development Allied Health Division, Catholic Schools of Fairbanks, and numerous nonprofit board and/or staff retreats. She conducted the multi-year evaluation of the Statewide Alaska Mentoring Demonstration Project, the series of four regional planning summits for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders; telephone interviews for statewide and local research projects, and focus groups for Tanana Valley Campus of UAF.

Brenda has been the lead for the ATCA support team in providing coordination and communication support to the steering committee, all workgroups and the annual tobacco summit. Brenda and the same team are providing similar support for the Alaska Health Summit for the fifth consecutive year. She provided logistics and facilitation support for the Conference of Alaskans, Conference of Young Alaskans and Alaska 20/20 statewide visioning process.
