January 26, 2006 - Doug Reynolds receives the Harold T. Caven Professorship
Oil and gas consultant Douglas Reynolds, who is currently working with Information Insights on the Statewide Assessment of Gasline Economics for the Alaska Dept. of Revenue, was named the recipient of the two-year Harold T. Caven professorship which includes a $20,000 award. This award is intended to enable Reynolds to carry out activities beyond those associated with his normal faculty assignments. Projects proposed by Reynolds include studying Alaska’s energy future and creating a book to explain energy issues and how they will affect Alaska. Reynolds earned his Ph.D. in oil and energy economics in 1994 from the University of New Mexico and spent two years in Khazakstan teaching and studying oil energy economics. Reynolds has been taught economics as a professor in UAF's School of Management since 1997.

November 28, 2005 - FASD Report Released
This is the final report from four regional FASD summits held in May and June 2005. The summits brought together Alaskans concerned about prenatal exposure to alcohol and its effects on the health of our state to share ideas, thoughts and strategies for continuing and enhancing the state’s agenda on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD). Ideas presented in the report will help shape the state’s approach to services, prevention and advocacy for FASD in the next one to five years.

October 21, 2005 - 2005 Alaska Housing Needs Assessment Released
The study updates and expands on the 1991 Alaska Housing Needs Study by ASK Marketing and Research Group. The new study covers urban and rural Alaska, documenting the current state of housing, based on population as well as size and condition of home, and highlighting regional needs and conditions. The study was paid for by the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation and the Association of Alaska Housing Authorities, and was managed by the Cold Climate Housing Research Center.
