Emma Funk

Emma Funk started at Information Insights in May of 2010. She is a student at West Valley High School, as well as a part-time student at UAF. She enjoys photography, theater, creative writing and kayaking. She has played many roles in various productions, including Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and Haemon in Antigone, both with the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater. One of her original essays appeared in The Best Teen Writing of 2009.

Emma works under Jana Peirce to assist with web development projects, and she performs administrative duties as needed. Emma has also contributed photography and graphics work to Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater, the Alaska Summer Research Academy and the UAF College of Natural Science and Mathematics.

Jessica Holden

Jessica Holden is one of the newest consultants at Information Insights, although she previously worked for the company as a college intern and on special projects. She was part of the Information Insights’ facilitation team that conducted four regional FASD summits across the state, and she has also facilitated meetings for TCC management, the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority, and several non-profits. She is currently providing support to the Alaska Tobacco Control Alliance (ATCA) and the Alaska Public Health Association (ALPHA) annual statewide Health Summit. Jessica co-authored an in-depth literature review of poverty measurement trends for rural and indigenous populations and proposed recommendations of how these trends should be considered when developing poverty measurement tools in rural Alaska.

Aldona Jonaitis

Aldona is the coordinator for Alaska Living Cultural Treasures, a project of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. Aldona’s knowledge of Alaska Native art is extensive. Until her recent retirement from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Aldona served as the Director of the University of Alaska Museum of the North and a Professor of Anthropology. She has 20 years experience working with Alaska Native artists, and is the author of numerous books and articles on Native American art. Through her tenure at Museum of the North, she also has extensive experience with media outreach, marketing and fundraising. Aldona holds a Ph.D. in art history and archeology.

Shannon McCarthy

Shannon joined Information Insights in October 2007. She is currently the project manager for the Alaska Scenic Byways Program ‘Integrated Communication Project. She holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Shannon has a wealth of experience in communications planning, including creating public information campaigns and producing radio, print and television media materials. With extensive background in communications and message development, she has created outreach campaigns designed to reach both rural and urban Alaskans.

Until September 2007 Shannon was the spokesperson for the Northern Region of DOT&PF. She served as the main point of contact for print, radio, and television journalists for design, maintenance, construction, and planning divisions. She served as media contact in emergencies, and coordinated enterprise stories, including developing communication plans, writing PSAs, press releases, articles, editorials and speeches. Shannon developed and implemented external communication plans to inform the public and stakeholder groups on transportation issues, projects, and emergencies. She previously served as a special assistant and media liaison for the Commissioner of the Department of Community and Economic Development (its name at that time).

Indra Arriaga

Indra Arriaga is a Senior Consultant with Information Insights. She holds an MA in Political Science from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to joining II, Indra supervised the Division of Community and Regional Affairs, Research and Analysis section, under the State of Alaska, Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development.

While at DCCED, Indra was responsible for community information systems and analysis on a wide range of topics, from demographics to the impacts of the high cost on energy on communities, and state level industry dynamics.

Cady Lister

Cady Lister is a Senior Consultant in Information Insights’ Anchorage office. Cady specializes in socio-economic and market research and analysis. She has worked extensively with state, local, and tribal governments, and with nonprofits throughout the state, including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, the North Slope and the Kenai Peninsula. Cady has a special passion for quality data and policy work that impacts housing and health delivery systems.

Relevant projects for Information Insights include a statewide housing assessment for the Cold Climate Housing Research Center; a housing needs assessment for the US Army at Fort Wainwright; management and facilitation on the Behavioral Health Planning Project for the State of Alaska and the Alaska Mental Health Trust; a feasibility study for the Fairbanks Convention and Visitor’s Bureau; analysis for the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center socio-economic impact study; and program development consultation for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe.

Barb Branton

Barb Branton came to Information Insights in April of 2006 as a coordinator. She works part-time to provide administrative support at the Fairbanks office.

Branton has experience providing administrative support to various University of Alaska offices, statewide and at the UAF campus, for over 25 years, 15 of which were with the General Counsel’s office. She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in English from UAF in 1980.

When not at work, she enjoys gardening and quilting.

Susan Pruitt

Susan started with Information Insights in April of 2002 and provides accounting and administrative support for both the Fairbanks and Anchorage offices. She came to Alaska in 1993 and worked for six years providing bookkeeping and administrative services for a national corporation. Rick Lonn

Rick currently administers the Behavioral Health Mini-Grant Program through a contract with the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority. Grants are provided to Trust beneficiaries for services not covered by other funding sources. Nancy Lowe

Nancy is a project coordinator who provides research, logistical support and data management for many Information Insights projects. Recently she has contacted communities across Alaska and developed a database for distribution of satellite telephones and for assessing potential impacts of extending the Alaska Railroad through Canada. She coordinates travel and website development for such projects as the Alaska Health Summit and the Office of Children Services Citizen Review Panel. She has implemented and managed data for several client surveys. Nancy came to Information Insights in March of 1999. When not at work she enjoys scuba diving, target shooting, and online game play.
